Rangnick questions Man Utd board over transfer decisions

Ralf Rangnick, the club’s outgoing temporary manager, has questioned the board’s choice to spend much on Donny van de Beek, Amad Diallo, and Facundo Pellistri despite the club’s failure to replace midfielder Nemanja Matic.

Rangnick reportedly questioned why no replacement for Matic has been made despite the fact that the former Chelsea star’s contract expires at the conclusion of the season.

Man United’s choice to spend about £90 million on Diallo, Pellistri, and Van de Beek instead of bringing in an experienced player who would immediately secure a regular role in the club is said to have perplexed the German.

Man United has loaned out Amad, Pellistri, and Van de Beek, all of whom were signed in 2020, this season.

Rangnick was in charge of Man United’s final game on Sunday, when they lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace in the Premier League final day tie at Selhurst Park.

Erik ten Hag, who witnessed Man United lose to Palace, will take Rangnick’s place.

Following West Ham’s 3-1 loss to Brighton, Man United will now compete in the Europa League next season.
