The Federal Government has proclaimed Monday, December 27th, Tuesday, December 28th, and Monday, January 3rd, 2022 as public holidays to commemorate Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day, respectively.
Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Interior, made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulates Christians and all Nigerians at home and abroad on this year’s Christmas and New Year celebrations.
This was said in a statement issued on Wednesday by Shuaib Belgore, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior. It was headlined, ‘FG declares public holidays for Monday, January 27th, Tuesday, January 28th, 2021, and Monday, January 3rd, 2022.’
We must emulate the life of Jesus Christ in His practice and teachings on Humility, Service, Compassion, Patience, Peace, and Righteousness, the pastor was reported as saying.
This will be the most effective approach to show Christ and commemorate his birth.
He emphasized that peace and security are two key conditions for economic progress and prosperity, and he urged Christians and Nigerians to make the most of this festive season by praying for the absolute abolition of insecurity that afflicts our beloved country.
Aregbesola also urged all Nigerians to strictly adhere to and respect all non-pharmaceutical COVID-19 protocols and guidelines, such as the use of facemasks, frequent handwashing with soap and water, the use of hand sanitizer, and the avoidance of big groups.
Moderately celebrate the occasion without massive gatherings and follow all medical authorities’ guidelines. Take personal responsibility for preventing the virus’s spread, the minister has said.
