Three Senior Advocates of Nigeria have criticized Aisha, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari for ordering that all personnel in her office go on indefinite leave.
They claimed that the President’s wife behaved illegally since she lacked the authority to issue such an order and that only the Head of the Federation’s Civil Service, Folasade Yemi-Esan, was authorized by law to do so.
Separate interviews with newsmen were conducted with the three senior lawyers, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, Lekan Ojo, and Ifedayo Adedipe.
Those who work with the President and his wife, they claim, work for the people of Nigeria and are paid with taxpayers’ money.
Amid pregnancy rumors, Mohammed Kamal, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Health and Development Partners in the First Lady’s office, revealed on December 21, 2021, that Aisha had instructed all members of staff in her office to go on indefinite leave.
Buhari, 79, and Aisha, 50, were in Turkey between December 16 and 19, 2021, for the 3rd Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit. The Presidency’s distribution of photos of the President’s wife following the trip prompted pregnancy rumors because she was portrayed with what appeared to be a bump.
While Abdullahi’s phone was inaccessible and a text message sent to him has yet to be returned as of press time, Haruna declined to comment on the situation when approached.
