The 27 years old dancer took to her Instagram page where she shared a video of her dancing with her belly while being 8 months pregnant.

“Thank you @saralyn_vimana. Belly dance is safe is your baby. @athenadean_ is moving around in her amniotic fluid. Enjoying the waves,” she captioned the video.

Korra Obidi is well known for not letting even pregnancy stop her from dancing energetically. In one of her recent post on Instagram, Korra wrote, “Dance to the rhythm of your heart. Just because you are pregnant doesn’t mean you should stop doing what you love.

@danceonfox thank you for having me ??. First preggo on the @danceonfox ‘So you think you can dance stage’.
Choreography: @0_0erynbarnes
@drjustindean I ❤️ you.  A dream came through and history was made ❤️??.”

In an exclusive interview with Punch Newspaper, Korra explained that she learnt Belly dance. She told the publication, “I specifically chose belly dance because I find it easier to express emotions through the dance. But belly dance is only one of the styles that I was trained to do. I am so much more than a belly dancer. I also had extensive training in some other styles.”

In case you don’t know, Belly dance originated from Egypt and it is a torso-driven dance, with an emphasis on articulations of the hips.

Is Belly dance safe for pregnant women?

According to Wikipedia, Belly dancing is a low-impact, weight-bearing exercise and is thus suitable for all ages and levels of fitness.

Many of the moves involve isolations, which improves the flexibility of the torso. The dance moves are beneficial to the spine, as the full-body undulation moves lengthen (decompress) and strengthen the entire column of spinal and abdominal muscles in a gentle way.

The beauty of Belly dancing is that it improves the abdominal control and awareness needed during pregnancy, childbirth, and in the postpartum recovery period.

It also helps to reduce stress and anxiety during pregnancy.
