In honor of this year’s Democracy Day, the Nigerian government has declared June 12 as a public holiday.
In a statement made available to the public on Tuesday, June 11, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, revealed this to the public on behalf of Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
In his remarks, he called on Nigerians to uphold democratic governance principles and work toward strengthening Nigeria’s unity and security.
“As we mark another Democracy Day in the history of our dear country, let us all reflect on the efforts of our founding fathers and ensure that Nigeria remains a united, secured, peaceful, and indivisible entity.”
