On Thursday 17th June 2021, The Ekiti State Police Command arrested Suluka Abimbola, 16 ( a student of Christ School tutorials) alongside her boyfriend Oluwaseun Daniel Olajide, 25, for conspiracy and Self-Kidnapping
In line with the statement released by Abutu Sunday, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, on Tuesday the 16th of June 2021, Bolaji Femi of Bawa Estate, Ado- Ekiti went to New Iyin Divisional Police Headquarters and narrated that her sister Sulutu Abimbola had left home for school on Monday the 15th of June, but did not return home.
She further reported that when her ( Sulutu Abimbola) phone was called it was picked by an unknown person, who confirmed that Suluka had been kidnapped and demanded that a ransom of five hundred thousand naira (#500,000.00) be paid to a Union bank account belonging to one Adisa Damilola. The ransom was later reduced to hundred thousand naira a source tells The daily page.
The case was instantly transfered to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State CID where the owner of the account number was tracked and later led the operatives of the unit to Alex Grace Hotel, along Housing , Ado- Ekiti, where Suluka and her three accomplice were lodging.
In the course of the investigation Sulutu confessed that she conspired with the other suspects to raise money so she could relocate from Ekiti State, because she wanted pursue her dream of becoming an actress, which her mother did not agree with as she wanted her to pursue a career in the medical field.
Tunde Mobayo, the Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command has directed that further investigation be done to serve as a warning to any individual with a criminal sense.
