The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has declared lecture-free day across all public universities in the country.
Also, the academic union hinted the possibility of another long term strike in all public universities over the inability of the Federal Government to implement agreements.
The Daily Page recalls that Nigerian government failed to implement the agreements between them, which led to the suspension of a nine-month prolonged strike.
In order to prepare for another strike, the union directed its members nationwide to declare lecture-free day on Monday, February 7.
Given the reason for the lecture-free day, Prof. Emmanuel Osedeke, the ASUU National President explained that it will enable their members to have urgent meetings and sensitise the university communities and the general public on the failure of the government to honour an agreement the parties entered into in December 2020.
