ASUU declares lecture-free day, hints another strike

<h4><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">The Academic Staff Union of Universities&comma; ASUU&comma; has declared lecture-free day across all public universities in the country&period;<&sol;span><&sol;h4>&NewLine;<p><img class&equals;"aligncenter wp-image-18939 size-full" src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;thedailypage&period;ng&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2022&sol;02&sol;images-2022-02-07T104941&period;847&period;jpeg" alt&equals;"ASUU declares lecture-free day" width&equals;"700" height&equals;"408" &sol;><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">Also&comma; the academic union <span style&equals;"color&colon; var&lpar;--c-contrast-800&rpar;&semi;">hinted the possibility of another long term strike in all public universities over the inability of the Federal Government to implement agreements&period;<&sol;span><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi; color&colon; var&lpar;--c-contrast-800&rpar;&semi;">The Daily Page recalls that Nigerian government failed to implement the agreements between them&comma; which led to the suspension of a nine-month prolonged strike&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">In order to prepare for another strike&comma; the union <span style&equals;"color&colon; var&lpar;--c-contrast-800&rpar;&semi;">directed its members nationwide to declare lecture-free day on Monday&comma; February 7&period;<&sol;span><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">Given the reason for the lecture-free day&comma; Prof&period; Emmanuel Osedeke&comma; the ASUU National President explained that it will enable their members <span style&equals;"color&colon; var&lpar;--c-contrast-800&rpar;&semi;">to have urgent meetings and s<&sol;span><span style&equals;"color&colon; var&lpar;--c-contrast-800&rpar;&semi;">ensitise the university communities and the general public on the failure of the government to honour an agreement the parties entered into in December 2020&period;<&sol;span><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;
