ASUU: Set up of 2009 pact renegotiation panel’s report ready in April

<h4><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">Adamu Adamu&comma; the Minister of Education&comma; is set to launch a committee to renegotiate the 2009 agreement between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities&period;<&sol;span><&sol;h4>&NewLine;<p><img class&equals;"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20340" src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;thedailypage&period;ng&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2022&sol;03&sol;Adamu-Adamu-1-e1586772660629&period;webp" alt&equals;"" width&equals;"800" height&equals;"450" &sol;><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">The committee is expected to submit its report six weeks after the inauguration&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">According to newsmen&comma; the 2009 agreement has become a point of contention between the two parties&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">ASUU has accused the Federal Government on several occasions of failing to implement some of the agreements reached&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">The government agreed with ASUU in 2009 that the working conditions of university lecturers would be reviewed every five years&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">The issue of lecturers&&num;8217&semi; salaries and allowances is included in the condition of service&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">However&comma; the education minister has formed a seven-member committee to investigate the agreement&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">According to Ben Goong&comma; the ministry&&num;8217&semi;s spokesman&comma; the committee will be inaugurated on Monday&comma; 7th March 2022&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">The Minister of Education&comma; Adamu Adamu&comma; will lead a team to renegotiate the agreement reached between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities in 2009&comma; according to Goong&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">Charles Akpan&comma; a spokesman for the Ministry of Labour and Employment&comma; explained that the committee would be expected to submit its report in six weeks&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">The renegotiation committee established by the Ministry of Education is expected to complete everything on the condition of service and submit its report in six weeks&comma; according to Akpan&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;
