BREAKING: ASUU suspends 9 months old strike conditionally

<p><img class&equals;"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1284" src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;thedailypage&period;ng&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2020&sol;12&sol;images-2020-12-23T094757&period;704-1&period;jpeg" alt&equals;"" width&equals;"600" height&equals;"360" &sol;><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>The Academic Staff Union of Universities &lpar;ASUU&rpar; has on Monday conditionally suspended its 9 months old strike&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>This is coming after varsity lecturers received their two month arrears&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>This was made known to the public by ASUU National Chairman&comma; Biodun Ogunyemi at a briefing of the union on Wednesday&comma; December 23rd&comma; 2020 in Abuja&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Speaking further&comma; Professor Biodun Ogunyemi thanked Nigerian students and parents for their cooperation during the 9 months old strike that started since March&comma; 2020&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He also assured Nigerians that they are returning to classes and therefore appeal to parents to work with them for the revitalisation of universities&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In a press statement by the union&comma; the union insisted that they did not lock the universities&comma; as far as they are concerned&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The union also noted that their members will resume classes from Thursday&comma; December 24th&comma; 2020&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Professor Biodun Ogunyemi added that the government will decide when universities are to resume in line with the COVID-19 complaiance guidelines&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Recall that Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19&comma; PTF&comma; directed school owners including <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;thedailypage&period;ng&sol;2020&sol;12&sol;22&sol;fg-restricts-guests-at-conference-meetings-wedding-others-to-50&sol;">universities not to reopen till January 18th&comma; 2021<&sol;a> due to increase in coronavirus confirmed cases&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>More details later&&num;8230&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
