British law firm calls on UK to act on Nnamdi Kanu’s case
<h4><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Bindmans LLP, a British law company, has called on UK government ministers to intervene in the alleged abuse of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, in jail.</span></h4>

<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Bindmans LLP was instructed by the family of the arrested IPOB leader to &#8220;raise urgent concerns with ministers regarding his confinement in conditions that amount to torture,&#8221; according to a statement on the firm&#8217;s website.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Kanu&#8217;s legal counsel in Nigeria has raised concerns with the UK&#8217;s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, as well as the local authorities and courts, according to the firm.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">&#8220;Neither government has contested that Mr. Kanu is being held in these conditions,&#8221; it says.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">&#8220;The British government has a solid and unequivocal stance on condemning and seeking to end torture,&#8221; Shirin Marker, a solicitor at Bindmans LLP who represents Kanu&#8217;s family, was cited in the statement as saying.</span></p>
