Ahead of the 2022–23 season, Fernandes transfers from No. 18 to No. 8 and will wear that shirt going forward.
Juan Mata, a personal friend of Fernandes, vacated the number 8 jersey at Manchester United.
Recall that Mata left Manchester United this summer after the 2021–2022 season.
