The Delta State Government is accused of diverting COVID-19 monies, despite the fact that five isolation centers in the state are currently closed due to the pandemic’s second phase.
According to the findings, the isolation center at the Federal Medical Centre in Asaba is currently charging more than N100,000 for COVID-19 therapy.
“Previously, it was free therapy, but now at the FMC, the COVID-19 treatment is N100,000 per person,” a source at the center revealed.
Last week, the Federal Government disbursed over N1 billion from the COVID-19 budget to states, including Delta State, to tackle the recent Omicron virus.
Federal officials had also accused state governments of mismanaging COVID-19 monies allocated to them.
In an interview with The PUNCH, human rights campaigner Victor Ojei urged the Delta State Government to open the isolation centers and begin treatment in the state as soon as possible.
“As I talk to you now, all six isolation centers are closed,” he stated.
