The Federal Government has formally declared bandits as terrorists in Nigeria.
This was made known in a Gazette titled ‘Terrorism (Prevention) Proscribition Order Notice, 2021, signed by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN).
According to the gazette, the bandits will face trial under the Terrorism (Prevention) Act 2011.
In the gazette, the Nigerian government warned its citizens not to participate in any manner whatsoever in any form of activities involving the proscribed group.
This is coming a few weeks after Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja declared bandits as terrorists.
