Colonel Hassan Stan-Labo (rtd), a former Army Intelligence Officer and security expert, has urged the Federal Government to deploy drones in the fight against insecurity in the country.
This comes as he noted that technology is not playing the necessary role in combating instability, particularly in the North-East, which is the worst-affected region.
This was stated by Stan-Lebo during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.
What are drones used for? These things should be ubiquitous by now. I’m curious about what is really preventing us from taking some of these initiatives. “We now have amazing drones on the market that can perform surveillance, he remarked.
All you have to do is sit in an operations room, issue a command, press a button, and the drones will be busy doing all the chores, reporting in results, and so on.” We should be able to engage drones by now.
More lucrative wages and welfare packages for personnel, according to the security expert, would increase morale.
He also encouraged the administration to take into account the condition of individuals who had retired after years of service.
Why are we still putting off anything we need to do to improve manpower in the security sector?
I have yet to see this government show a sufficient level of urgency to ensure that we increase manpower. Manpower has become a huge issue for us in the military, as well as the police, he continued.
