Imo state police arrest former Governor, Rochas Okorocha

<p>Operatives of Imo state police command has arrested the immediate past governor of Imo state, Senator Rochas Okorocha.</p>
<p>He was arrested by the police after he led a team of his supporters to reopen the Royal Palm Estate sealed by the state Government.</p>
<p>The Daily Page recalls state government had last Friday, February 19, recovered the Royal Palm Estate along Akachi road, belonging to Okorocha&#8217;s wife.</p>
<p>His wife&#8217;s property was seized, according to the team led by Commissioner for Lands, Enyinnaya Onuegbu, in compliance with the directive of the Imo State gazette on the report of the Judicial Commission of Enquiry on the recovery of Lands and other related matters.</p>
<p>However, Okorocha alongside his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, broke the keys used to seal the hotel which belongs to his wife, Nkechi.</p>
<p>For this reason, Police apprehended him and is currently being detained at the state police headquarters.</p>
<p>Confirming his arrest, the state Police Command spokesman, Orlando Ikeokwu told a journalist in the state capital via chat that the command invited Okorocha to explain why he caused the damages.</p>
<p>“The command received a distress call regarding what we termed to be an unrest at Royal Spring palm estate, and the operatives moved to the place we discovered Okorocha led some persons to the place hitherto sealed by the Imo government.</p>
<p>“The command calmed the situation and invited Okorocha, to come and explain why he led the violent breaking into the estate that led to damages,&#8221; Orlando said.</p>
