Jose Mourinho in talks with Nigeria to become manager for AFCON
<h4>Jose Mourinho has held conversations about taking over as manager of the national team, according to the head of Nigeria&#8217;s Football Association.</h4>
<p>The Super Eagles are looking for a new coach after sacking Gernot Rohr on the eve of the African Cup of Nations next month.</p>

<p>Rohr had been in command for five years when they were held to a stalemate by Cape Verde in their most recent match.</p>
<p>Augustine Eguavoen was named head coach by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), but he appears unlikely to be in charge by the time the event begins in Cameroon in January.</p>
<p>NFF president Amaju Pinnick stated that a new coach would be appointed in the next week or two, implying that Mourinho was involved in the discussions.</p>
<p>Amaju Melvin Pinnick, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, claimed to have met with Mourinho.</p>
<p>He stated that there is no harm in contacting the Roma manager.</p>
