Kwara state govt flags off new school projects, infrastructures

<p>The Kwara State Government has flagged off the massive infrastructural&comma; school projects across 600 schools in the state&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><img class&equals;"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7657" src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;thedailypage&period;ng&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2021&sol;07&sol;FB&lowbar;IMG&lowbar;1625768111860&period;jpg" alt&equals;"" width&equals;"720" height&equals;"507" &sol;><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>This was made known to the public&comma; in a statement issued on Thursday&comma; by Kwara state governor&comma; Gov AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Facebook&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He said the projects which include statewide wholesale remodelling of schools&comma; construction of new classrooms&comma; rehabilitation of existing ones&comma; construction of water&comma; sanitation and hygiene &lpar;WASH&rpar; facilities&comma; information and communication facilities&comma; and training and retraining of teachers&comma; commenced today&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He said&comma; &&num;8220&semi;Today&comma; we flagged off massive infrastructural projects across 600 schools in the state&period; This development will turn the page in the history of basic education in the state&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The projects include statewide wholesale remodelling of schools&comma; construction of new classrooms&comma; rehabilitation of existing ones&comma; construction of water&comma; sanitation and hygiene &lpar;WASH&rpar; facilities&comma; information and communication facilities&comma; and training and retraining of teachers&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He added that&comma; &&num;8220&semi;This project is the outcome of a strategic new beginning between our administration and the Universal Basic Education Commission&period; Kwara’s relationship with UBEC broke down in 2013 when the former regime diverted the matching grants for school development&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;This brought Kwara to the rock bottom in the area of basic education infrastructure&period; We had to pay back the diverted funds&period; Then we saved up to access the N7bn grants that had piled up between 2014 and 2019&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He continued&comma; &&num;8220&semi;With this project&comma; there will be total remodelling of 24 schools to feature classrooms&comma; toilets&comma; libraries&comma; laboratories&comma; and offices&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;There will be construction of four new classrooms each across 61 locations&comma; three new classrooms each in 64 locations&comma; and two new classrooms each in 116 locations&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;Apart from this&comma; some 1335 classrooms will be rehabilitated across the state&period; We will also dig 89 boreholes and construct 78 pour-flush toilets&period; Some 29&comma;005 units of student furniture and 7&comma;474 units of teachers’ furnitures will be provided&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He also urged  all the contractors and supervisors already enlisted to deliver quality jobs&comma; adding that it will boost the state economy&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
