Background story surrounding Sylvester’s death
On Tuesday, December 2nd, a Twitter user simply identified as @perrisonoromoni laid claims on Twitter that his young cousin, Sylvester Oromoni was beaten to death by fellow students for refusing to join a cult group and his school(Dowen College) where the fee is up to 1 million nairas.
The management of Dowen college, however, refuted the claims in a statement on Wednesday, they claimed that Oromoni was only admitted to the sickbay for hip pains due to a football injury and was treated by the school doctor.
However, photos and video evidence that supports the claims that Sylvester was battered and that the treatment led to his death surfaced on Twitter through @perrisonoromoni.
Following the viral reports of a Dowen College student being tortured for refusing to join the court, the Lagos State government ordered the indefinite closure of Dowen college.
