Man Utd sign shortest centre-back in Premier League

According to Sky Sports, Lisandro Martinez, a recent signing by Manchester United, will soon hold the record for being the league’s shortest center-back.

Martinez, who moved from Ajax for approximately £53.3 million, is only 175 cm (5 feet 9 inches) tall.

After weeks of negotiations with the Dutch club, United announced last week that a deal had been reached for the 24-year-old.

Some fans and commentators have already criticized Martinez’s height.

Adebayo Akinfenwa, a former English professional footballer, thinks it would be challenging for the Argentina international to play against Erling Haaland of Manchester City.

Martinez’s height, in the opinion of Akinfenwa, would be an inappropriate fit for tall forwards in the Premier League as a centre-back.
