President Muhammadu Buhari has on Monday finally unveiled the country’s digital currency, eNaira at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Recall that the apex bank, Central Bank of Nigeria had earlier announced October 1st as the official date for the launch.
Unfortunately, it was shifted till further notice due to some activities on Independence day.
During the launch of eNaira, the Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osibanjo, CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, and others were present.
Also, Godwin Emefiele assured Nigerian that the eNaira, like the physical Naira will be accessible to all, including those living in the rural areas.
He noted that the launch of the digital currency is a major step forward in the evolution of money, adding that it will make financial transactions easier.
