Orji also allayed fears that the ruling party will implode if the APC’s National Chairman of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni, holds the convention in February.

This was stated in a letter he wrote on Thursday in Abuja to President Muhammadu Buhari and the party’s national leadership.

Kalu cited three difficulties that must be solved promptly before the convention: “election of National Working Committee (NWC); party crises at state levels; and presidential zoning in 2023.”

In response, he proposed that the APC presidential primary and election of the National Working Committee (NWC) take place at the same time as the presidential primary election in 2023.

Kalu wrote a letter titled: “Urgent demand for postponing of APC National Convention,” cautioned that conducting the convention in February without resolving pockets of differences that arose during the party’s Congresses could lead to implosion.

“It is with a sense of devotion and unshakable allegiance to our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), that I write to you, the content of this letter regarding our party’s National Convention set for February 2022,” the letter begins.
