Popular social media platform, TikTok owned by Chinese company ByteDance has banned the ” milk crate” challenge because so many people were getting hurt.
Recently, viral videos of people stacking milk crates in a pyramid and trying to climb them like stairs were all over TikTok and now has been banned by the app that gave life to it. TikTok has also deleted search results for the hashtag.
TikTok explains that the ‘milk crate’ challenge was communicating dangerous activities, as many who tried the challenge were falling down from the crates.
According to the spokesperson for TikTok:
“TikTok prohibits contents that promotes or glorifies dangerous acts, and we remove videos and redirect searches to our Community Guidelines to discourage such content”
“We encourage everyone to exercise caution in their behavior whether online or off.”
