Twitter ban: High court closes case against FG

<h4><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">A complaint brought against the Federal Government for ordering television and radio stations to remove their Twitter accounts was dismissed by a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday&period;<&sol;span><&sol;h4>&NewLine;<div id&equals;"attachment&lowbar;14990" style&equals;"width&colon; 730px" class&equals;"wp-caption aligncenter"><img aria-describedby&equals;"caption-attachment-14990" class&equals;"wp-image-14990 size-full" src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;thedailypage&period;ng&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2021&sol;12&sol;Screenshot&lowbar;20211209-181121&period;jpg" alt&equals;"" width&equals;"720" height&equals;"374" &sol;><p id&equals;"caption-attachment-14990" class&equals;"wp-caption-text">Twitter ban&colon; High court closes case against FG<&sol;p><&sol;div>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">In a ruling&comma; Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court dismissed the case as frivolous and granted the plaintiff N100&comma;000 in damages&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">According to the Nigerian News Agency&comma; the Incorporated Trustees of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project filed a fundamental rights enforcement complaint against three defendants in June&comma; entitled FHC&sol;ABJ&sol;CS&sol;496&sol;21&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">The National Broadcasting Commission&comma; the Director-General of NBC&comma; and the Minister of Information and Culture were named as the first&comma; second&comma; and third defendants in the claim&comma; respectively&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">The lawsuit came after NBC issued an order requiring all broadcasters to immediately stop supporting the social media behemoth after it was banned for breaking Nigerian laws&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">The group had asked for an injunction that would last indefinitely&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;
