Twitter ban: High court closes case against FG
<h4><span style="font-size: 14pt;">A complaint brought against the Federal Government for ordering television and radio stations to remove their Twitter accounts was dismissed by a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.</span></h4>

<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">In a ruling, Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court dismissed the case as frivolous and granted the plaintiff N100,000 in damages.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">According to the Nigerian News Agency, the Incorporated Trustees of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project filed a fundamental rights enforcement complaint against three defendants in June, entitled FHC/ABJ/CS/496/21.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">The National Broadcasting Commission, the Director-General of NBC, and the Minister of Information and Culture were named as the first, second, and third defendants in the claim, respectively.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">The lawsuit came after NBC issued an order requiring all broadcasters to immediately stop supporting the social media behemoth after it was banned for breaking Nigerian laws.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">The group had asked for an injunction that would last indefinitely.</span></p>
