Twitter ban violates right to freedom of expression – Amnesty International
<h4><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Amnesty International, a global human rights organization, has welcomed the Federal Government&#8217;s lifting of the ban on the social media platform Twitter.</span></h4>

<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">This is coming after FG announced the suspension of the ban placed on the microblogging platform, Twitter.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">It was revealed in a press statement issued on Wednesday by Kashifu Abdullahi, Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency and Chairman Technical Committee Nigeria-Twitter Engagement.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Reacting to the development, Amnesty International stated that the Twitter ban was illegal in the first place and an attack on the right to free expression.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">The group urged Nigerian authorities to take swift actions to end the violation of rights to freedom of expression, access to information, and freedom of the press.</span></p>
