Twitter ban violates right to freedom of expression – Amnesty International

<h4><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">Amnesty International&comma; a global human rights organization&comma; has welcomed the Federal Government&&num;8217&semi;s lifting of the ban on the social media platform Twitter&period;<&sol;span><&sol;h4>&NewLine;<p><img class&equals;"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17498" src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;thedailypage&period;ng&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2022&sol;01&sol;001-twitter-app-&period;jpg" alt&equals;"" width&equals;"940" height&equals;"627" &sol;><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">This is coming after FG announced the suspension of the ban placed on the microblogging platform&comma; Twitter&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">It was revealed in a press statement issued on Wednesday by Kashifu Abdullahi&comma; Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency and Chairman Technical Committee Nigeria-Twitter Engagement&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">Reacting to the development&comma; Amnesty International stated that the Twitter ban was illegal in the first place and an attack on the right to free expression&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><span style&equals;"font-size&colon; 14pt&semi;">The group urged Nigerian authorities to take swift actions to end the violation of rights to freedom of expression&comma; access to information&comma; and freedom of the press&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;
