UNESCO expresses worry over feminine gender violence
<h4><span style="font-size: 14pt;">The Nigerian National Commission for UNESCO has expressed worry over statistics showing that violence against women in Nigeria has increased intermittently to 297 percent since the COVID-19 outbreak began.</span></h4>

<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">The UN said it had obliged all of its member states to support the Secretary-&#8216;UNiTE General&#8217;s to End Violence Against Women Campaign,&#8217; with the theme &#8220;Orange the World,&#8221; which asks for global action to raise awareness, activate advocacy efforts, and share knowledge and ideas.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Idowu Lateef Olagunju, the Secretary-General of NATCOM-UNESCO, expressed his worry on Friday in Abuja at the launch of Tabitha Cumi Foundation&#8217;s Flash Actions On Girls Safety project.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">She emphasized the importance of combating the threat of violence against women and girls, particularly in this epidemic moment.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Violence, she claimed, was no longer an individual or cultural problem, but rather a global one.</span></p>
