Nigerian singer, Wizkid’s Essence gets certified Gold in the US on the 2nd of September.
A gold certification is issued by the Recording Industry Association of America [RIAA], based on the number of albums and singles sold through retail and other ancillary markets.
According to Wikipedia, songs gets certified Gold when a song or an album moves units to the equivalent of 500,000 copies.
As of time of filing this report, Wizkid’s song Essence is third Nigerian song to get certified Gold in US.
Also, Wizkid released the deluxe version of his ground breaking song, Essence on August 27th, 2021, adding a total of 18 songs with four additional tracks to the initial album.
Two of it include ‘Essence’ (remix) featuring Justin Bieber and ‘Mood’, featuring upcoming artiste, Buju.
In July, Wizkid became the first Nigerian artist to attain No.67 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
In August, Wizkid became the most Shazamed song in the United States for the week in review.
Also, his song has gained a lot of International recognitions as American Celebrities including Kyle Jenner, Kim Kardashian, and others vibe to Wizkid’s Essence.
Recently, Wizkid, for the first time, performed with Canadian singer, Justin Bieber on stage in Made in America music festival in Philadelphia, according to Pulse Nigeria reports.
