In order for you to make an informed choice you need to understand how to spot fake perfume.
Well, Fake Perfumes are easily manufactured but it does not have same quality as scent of the authentic perfume, and I’m very sure you won’t want to spend your money on that.
So after a careful research, I present to you ways in which you can spot fake perfume without falling victim of buying them:
(1) Research The Brand Beforehand:
Before you go to any perfume store to get a perfume, may sure you have a particular brand of perfume in mind.
You can visit their official website or social media pages to know what they have in stock and also see the price range.
Do not forget to check for information about that product packaging, bottles and placement of the bar code.
Try to figure out the description of the scent before you head to the store.
(2) Check The Appearance:
In case you don’t know, an original perfume will come in high quality, smooth and transparent, as a matter of fact, they always come in transparent bottles that will enable you to see the colour.
Original perfume will not look rough and tampered with. Do not buy a perfume that is rough, loose or a perfume that has a glue residue inside it.
(3) Be Sure Of It’s Composition:
Original perfume are always a combination of synthetic and natural ingredients and those ingredients are not harmful to the skin, unlike fake perfume that is made up of only synthetic ingredients.
If you want to know whether the composition used in the making of the perfume is authentic, check for pale colours in the bottles as most big brands make use of pale colours as the final result of their handiwork.
(4) Look at the labeling:
When you get to the perfume store, make sure you check the labeling to see it’s barcode, properties, batch number, serial number and so on to verify its authenticity.
Make sure it is the same thing with what you found on the manufacturers website when you did your research. If they are not the same thing, the product is fake.
There are some cases whereby fake perfume can be put into the bottles of authentic perfume to deceive buyers, that’s why you need to see the next point.
(5) Smell It:
An original perfume scent is always complex, they are produced that way to ensure that the perfume switches fragrance from the time you apply it on your skin to when your skin absorb it.
Most time it comprises a top note, a middle note and a base note. Although some perfume may have just a single note.
If the perfume you bought has a different smell and it doesn’t fit the description of the manufacturer, it is fake.
