American actor, Will Smith has been banned from the Oscars after he slapped Chris Rock.
The actor has been banned from the Oscars for ten (10) years. This is as a result of the ‘drama’ that took place between him and Chris Rock,
The iconic Oscar slap resulted in Will Smith being banned from the Oscars for ten years.
Although, this ten year suspension does not exempt him from being nominated or even winning, it simply must indicates he will be unable to attend the event.
Academy President David Rubin and CEO Dawn Hudson said in a Newsletter obtained by multiple media outlets
“Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy event or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards” starting from April 8. So Will will be 63 when he attends the Oscars again.
In the newsletter, the Academy apologised for not being able to address the situation in the room and also expressed “deep gratitude” to Chris Rock for his professionalism.
