The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a statement that it will be announcing its own digital currency on October 1, 2021 ( Independence day). According to the announcement, Rakiya Mohammed, CBN’s IT director divulged at the 306th Banker’s Committee meeting that CBN has been conducting research on digital currencies since 2017 and may conduct a proof of principle (prototype) before the end of the year. An unidentified woman has reportedly abandoned her child (girl),who is believed to be three years old  at St. Joseph Catholic church, Akumazi  Unuocha in Ika North East local government of Delta State. According to the Ika weekly newspaper on Monday, July 19th. The priest in charge of the parish revealed that he went to attend a meeting at Issele-Uku and was informed about the abandoned child when he returned and he immediately informed the police about it. The cleric also mentioned that the girl was taken to Asaba where she was handed over to an orphanage home.
