The Nigerian government has revealed a plan to restrict airlines from the United Kingdom, Canada, and Saudi Arabia over Omicron variant.
This was made known to the public by Hadi Sirika, the Minister of Aviation on Sunday, December 12th, 2021.
According to him, the travel ban on the above-mentioned countries will be effected from Tuesday, December 14, 2021.
This means that the three countries are now on Nigeria’s red list over the outbreak and spread of the Omicron variant.
Last week, the UK, Canada, and Saudi Arabia placed Nigeria on their red list, saying non-UK and non-Irish citizens traveling in from Nigeria will not be allowed into the country due to the Omicron case.
However, the Nigerian government has stressed that the country has done the same to them, adding the move was to reciprocate the travel ban placed on Nigeria over the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron.
