Grammy Awards: Gov Wike gifts Burna Boy land, money to build 3

Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike has on Saturday gifted Burna Boy a plot of land and cash as an appreciation for winning the Grammy Awards.

He announced this while welcoming Burna Boy, team and his parents on a courtesy visit at the Government House, Port Harcourt.

At the event, the governor described Burna Boy as the pride of the state.

The governor also pledged to give every artistes that performed at homecoming concert N10m each.

He said:

“I’m not here for politics today, I’m here for the youths.

“It gladdens my heart to know that regardless of how the situation of the country is, our youths are still making us proud globally.

“I always love to support young talents because it’s not easy to keep pursuing what you love to do especially when your government does little or nothing to show their support or appreciation.

“However, Burnaboy and so many other artists have been putting in their best to their career to ensure that we keep going globally and because of this I will be giving him a land in Old GRA, Port Harcourt and money to build.

“I will also be supporting any other artistes who performed at this Homecoming Concert with N10 million each,” he said.

David Adeleke, the Afrobeats performer known as Davido, said he is Igbo by blood. The singer shot back at someone who warned him about being friendly with Igbo people, saying he could worry about betrayal as a Yoruba man.

The X user, Yakbel, said: “Davido just dey carry Ibo full body, until when dem betray am before e rest. Yoruba boy dey frolick with Ibos in 2025, they want your head and everything you have to belong to them. You can never satisfy Ibos. Ibos are not people you surround yourself with as a Yoruba man.”

Davido overlooked the criticism and just replied:
“Lol. My ancestors are from the Igbo people.”

Nigerian online streamer, Habeeb Hamzat popularly known as Peller has revealed he convinced his girlfriend, Jarvis, to turn down a ₦3 billion offer from Netflix since it required her to kiss someone during the show.

Peller mentioned this during a livestream with Peter Okoye from P-Square.

Peller said, “Netflix offered 3 billion Naira my girlfriend, Jarvis to do a kissing scene, but I turned it down.”

Peter asked, “Do you mean N3 million or N3 billion?”

Peller replied, “N3 billion! I know you might not believe me, but I have the record of the video call. I warned them never to contemplate such ever again. I love my baby. I don’t joke with my baby. She is my life.”

Peter added, “Always look out for her.”

Nigerian actor, Charles Okocha has paid a heartwarming visit to legendary actor Kanayo Kanayo ahead of his upcoming wedding.

Charles visited Kanayo to bring his wedding invitation to him in person. In the video shared by Kanayo, Okocha described him as a man who influenced his acting career greatly and, therefore called him his family and role model.
