The Niger State government has directed the closure of all public secondary schools in the state for two weeks.
According to the state government, all public schools will be closed from March 12 to March 26.
This new development was announced by Commissioner of education Hannatu Salihu on Thursday after a meeting with government officials and security agents.
Giving reason for closure of public schools, the state government explained that it will give security forces the time and opportunity to conduct a comprehensive risk assessment of all public secondary schools.
