North Korea bans the wearing of leather coats because of supreme leader, Kim Jong Un who does not like the idea of people dressing like him.
Kim Jong Un’s style change was first noticed by the media, which suggested that it was Kim Jong-Un’s way finding his own style identity.
It was reported that he had at first styled himself after his father and grandfather, the founder of North Korea by wearing Mao-style Jacket and horn-rimmed glasses.
In December, 2019, the supreme leader of North Korea was first sighted with a leader coat when he met with former USA president, Donald Trump over North Korea’s Nuclear stockpile.
Afterwards, the fashion trend of leather coats became really popular among the elites who could afford real leather.
And even the knock-offs became popular as it started selling around this year September following an unofficial trade between China and North Korea as a result of the COVID-19 shut down.
Due to the imitation of leather trench coats trend that started with Kim Jong Un Fashion, police has decided to stop the selling and buying of leather jackets.
Also, they forcefully take it off people’s body, adding that it cheapen Kim Jong un’s looks and undermine his authority.
According to the Korean police, wearing clothes designed to look like the highest dignity is an ‘impure trend to challenge the highest.
The security operatives instructed the public not to wear leather coats because it is part of the party directive to decide who can wear them.
