Plan International Nigeria, a human rights organization, joined the fight for Middle Belt peacebuilding on Tuesday, targeting around 200 youths as drivers of the process in flashpoint areas in Kaduna and Plateau States.
PIN’s Country Director, Usie Emmamuzou, revealed this during a close-out workshop in Abuja organized by the Middle Belt Youth Peace Building Academy Project in collaboration with PIN and the Centre for Peace Advancement in Nigeria.
According to him, the initiative, which began two years ago, aimed to train selected young leaders in Kaduna and Plateau States to design and lead their own initiatives to promote peace and tolerance in their communities.
He stated that the goal was met by activities that bolstered their particular communities’ freedom of thought, conscience, and religion by increasing social inclusion through awareness and religious tolerance.
