Following the death of the longest-serving monarch in British history, her eldest son, Prince Charles has emerged as King of England.
The Queen’s eldest son, 73, has been confirmed to be the new reigning British monarch, King of England immediately.
The Daily Page News reported that Queen Elizabeth died peacefully at the age of 96.
“When, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me,” Queen Elizabeth II said in a statement released on Feb. 5.
“And it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.”
The following day, on the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s Accession Day, also known as her Platinum Jubilee, Charles and Camilla accepted the “honor” in a statement.
The Guardian reports that her eldest son, Charles, 73, succeeds the Queen as king with immediate effect.
