A German multinational corporation, Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, (BMW) which produces luxury vehicles and motorcycles has terminated the ambassadorial deal with Israel Adesanya over rape comment.
This coming after a fight ensued between Israel Adesanya and his fellow fighter Kevin Holland.
However, Israel later apologized to his fellow fighter after he threatened to rape him.
The statement on Adesanya’s official Twitter account reads below:
“Last week fight talk escalated to a point in which I crossed the line. I understand the gravity of this word and how it can affect and hurt other people apart from my opponent, although that was never my intention. I am still growing under the spotlight, and I take this as a lesson to be more selective with words under pressure.”
Reacting to Israel Adesanya’s rape comment on social media, BMW released an official statement to a sport magazine, The Herald, reads below:
“Due to the comments made by an athlete online, we have reviewed our pending association with said athlete and we have decided not to push forward with a specific ambassador for the brand at this time in New Zealand.”
