Rio Ferdinand, a former player for Manchester United, has declared Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City as the team to beat this year.
Ferdinand notes that Man City has acquired players like Erling Haaland and Kalvin Phillips to its team and believes the Citizens have a strong squad with winning experience.
In the chase for the Premier League championship last season, Man City finished one point ahead of Liverpool.
Surprisingly, Chelsea, who ended third, fell 18 points short of Liverpool.
“I think City will be the team to beat again,” Ferdinand told Mirror Football.
“They’ve strengthened again, they have got [Erling] Haaland in and Kalvin Phillips. They have lost [Raheem] Sterling, yes, but they have got a deep squad and players that can play multiple positions.
“And they have got the experience of winning. Liverpool will push them hard again.”
