Manchester United’s biggest concern this season, according to former Bolton Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce, is their defense.
Allardyce stated that Man United interim manager Ralf Rangnick must address the defense issue in his squad, noting that it is not a difficult task.
According to him, Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has made more saves this season than any other Premier League goalie.
Man United and Arsenal are now vying for the final Champions League slot, ranking fifth and sixth in the Premier League table, respectively.
The Red Devils surged into the top four last month, but have squandered points in their previous two games against Burnley and Southampton, dropping them back to fourth place behind West Ham United.
Man Utd, however, won against ten-men Brighton on Tuesday moving them into the top four.
“The question is, can Manchester United – with the biggest and possibly most talented squad outside of the top three – come together and produce a run of games where they don’t throw silly points away?” Sam Allardyce told Ladbrokes.
“Ralf Rangnick is now struggling to find the appropriate combination of offense and defense.” At the moment, I think United’s defense to be absolutely shocking.
“David de Gea has made more saves this season than almost every other goalkeeper in the Premier League — that only goes to illustrate where Manchester United’s problems are.”
