Slices of Princess Diana and Prince Charles wedding cake has been bought for 1,850 pounds ($2,565) at an auction on the 11th of August, 40 years after the couple tied the knot on Wednesday, 27th July 1981 at St. Paul’s cathedral.
The cake allegedly featured a coat of arm colored in red, blue, silver and gold, a silver horseshoe, and leaf spray, also some white decorative icing.
The cake was in the care of Moya Smith, a royal staffer, who preserved the cake with sling wrap and dated it July 29, 1981.
It was reported that Princess Diana’s family sold the piece of the cake to a collector in 2008. The piece of cake was bought by Mr Layton a self described monarchist, who said he may give the item to a charity that favoured Princess Diana.
According to auctioneer Chris Albury to CNN “it was impossible to predict what it would sell for” he added ” £1,850 was very unexpected”
