Jermaine Jenas, a former England midfielder, claims that Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel never signed Romelu Lukaku.
He said Tuchel never approved Lukaku’s signing, but that the club’s board made the decision.
Jenas made the remark in response to the Belgian’s recent interviews in which he expressed dissatisfaction with his job at Chelsea under Tuchel.
The Belgium international told Sky Sports Italia that he was unhappy at Chelsea and wanted to return to Inter Milan, adding that the Blues were only his fourth choice when he left San Siro last summer.
He was left out of Chelsea’s squad for their vital match against Liverpool on Sunday as a result of his provocative statements. The score was 2-2 at the end of the game.
The pundit said the most important quote was that Lukaku said he is not happy with the situation at Chelsea.
According to Jenas, Thomas Tuchel didn’t want Lukaku, because if he did, he would have spent £100 million on a striker to build his team around.
