In this article, I will show you some of our favorite Nigerian singers who made the best of the year, 2021, despite the circumstances.
9. Ayra Starr
Ayra Starr whose real name is Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe has made 2021 her year as her lead single, Bloody Samaritan peaked at the top 50 chat.
It became first number one single on the chat. Ayra Starr’s Bloody Samaritan lyrics talks about pursuing one’s dreams despite detractions and others people’s negative opinions.
Also, in the month of September, Ayra Starr joined the growing list of Pepsi Global Ambassadors that include Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy and Tiwa Savage.
8. Adekunle Gold
Adekunle Gold whose real name is Adekunle Kosoko ended the year, 2021 with a bang, collaborating with one of African best singers, Davido to release their hit single ‘Be High’.
A lot of his fans have appreciated Adekunle Gold for releasing this some, some even use it for challenge on social media.
7. Simi
Simi whose real name is Simisola Kosoko released a single titled “Woman” which addresses the issues women face while celebrating their strength and courage.
Since the release of the song, Nigerians including female Celebrities have praised Simi as they couldn’t stop listening to it.
They also used this song for the popular hashtag #NoBodyLikeWoman started by Simi.
6. Tiwa Savage
Tiwa Savage whose real name is Tiwatope Savage also had a big year as well.
In August, 2021, Tiwa Savage released an hit single titled Somebody’s son featuring American singer, Brandy.
Since, the release of the visual of her single, it gained over 19 millions views on all streaming platforms despite dealing with her leaked tape. Watch the video below:
5. Joeboy
Nigerian singer, Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Dons whose real name is Joeboy has had an amazing year.
Fans really got a lot to do with songs as they perform a challenge for the hit song, titled, Alcohol.
Since the release on the 24th of September, 2021, it has been trending on Tiktok and other social media platforms.
4. Davido
Even though he didn’t release any new album in 2021, it was still a big year for singer Davido.
Davido released his Better Time Album in the year 2020. Of course, a lot of Nigerians went into 2021 listening to the album which contained hit tracks like Jowo, The Best featuring Mayorkun and others.
3. Burna Boy
Well, Burna Boy too didn’t release any new album in 2021 yet he made 2021 is big year.
Burna Boy’s fifth studio album, Twice as Tall earned him the Best Global Music Album at the 63rd Ceremony of the Grammy Awards.
2. Tems
Tems whose real name is Temilade Openiyi was recently ranked number 1 on the Billboard Next Big Sound Chart and number 5 on the Billboard Emerging Artist Chart.
Tems who began her singing career in 2018, got featured in Wizkid’s Essence.
In the album, Made In Lagos, we are not disappointed with Tems performance as she really killed it.

Wizkid whose real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun really worked hard this 2021, No cap!.
He has been giving his fans more content than they could ever hope for.
In October, 2020, Wizkid released his album titled Made In Lagos featuring Tems. He also released the deluxe edition of the album was released on 27th August, 2021.
After a year of the release of the album, The album has earned Wizkid 18 awards which include The Best Albums of 2020 by The Guardian, The 100 Best Albums of 2020 by Noisey.
