As we all know, many of our popular Nigerian musicians must have visited other countries either for their vacation or to perform in a concert or show. Most of these musicians get involved in some issues and they were arrested by the government of those countries.
So after a careful research, I present to you 6 Nigerian musicians that have been arrested in foreign countries.
(1) Sinzu:
Sinzu was popularly known as Sauce Kid before his arrest in the United States. He was arrested in Idaho, USA in 2017 when he wanted to board a flight after stealing over $15000 through bank card form.
When he was arrested, he was with a cash of $6000 and a device used to program bank cards. H was apprehended in court and he spent 2 years in jail. After he was released, he made a a tweet of confirming that he did the crime he was jailed for.
(2) Bella Shmurda:
Last month, Bella was arrested in Ghana and he was asked to pay a fine of 2000 Ghana cedis, the sad part of it was that he was deported back to Nigeria.
It was learnt that Bella Shmurda attacked a medical doctor with a fork after the doctor confirmed him positive of coronavirus and he had to be quarantined.
(3) Tems:
In December 2020, Tems was arrested in Kampala, Uganda for performing at a sold out concert. Her arrest led to the trend of #freeTems on Twitter. After some time, she was released and the charges against her were dropped.
(4) OmahLay:
Also in December 2020, OmahLay was arrested with Tems in Kampala, Uganda after they performed in a sold out concert and they were charged for negligently doing acts that is likely to spread the infectious Covid-19 virus.
After the Nigerian government, other celebrities helped to work for their release, the Ugandan government released the Omah Lay with Tems, apologized for the arrests and cleared them of their wrongdoings.
(5) Burna Boy:
In 2010, Burna Boy was arrested in London after he was accused of being involved in a gang related stabbing that left one person dead. He was found guilty and sent to jail. After spending eleven months in jail, he was released on the grounds of good behavior.
(6) Dammy Krane:
In 2017, Dammy Krane was arrested and sent to jail in Miami. He was accused by an American jet company, Tapjets of using different credit cards that do not belong to him to book a private jet with them.
He was released from jail after he met the bail condition, set at seven thousand and five hundred dollars. When he was taken to court he pleaded not guilty to the charges and demanded a trial by jury.
