Brendan Rodgers, manager of Leicester City, expressed sorrow over the club’s failure to recruit RB Leipzig of the Bundesliga’s Ademola Lookman this summer.
Lookman had a significant impact during his season-long loan at the King Power.
In 42 appearances with the Foxes in all competitions, the 23-year-old made over 10 goals and assists.
However, due to a lack of cash, Leicester City decided not to exercise the option to sign Lookman on a permanent basis.
Lookman this week signed a contract for €15 million with add-ons with Serie A club Atalanta.
Brentford held Leicester City to a 2-2 draw in their season-opening match last Saturday.
“I would have loved to have signed Ademola who was great here last season and got over 10 goals and assists but we weren’t able to do that,” Rodgers said while reflecting on his side’s performance in the game.
“Unfortunately that means we then have to look at the squad and the team and try to adapt, and then put them out to be as best organised as they can be.”
