An unimpressive summer transfer window and a 2-1 loss to Brighton on the first day of the Premier League season have already cast a pall over Old Trafford.

Many people think the Red Devils lack a team that can compete with the best in England, despite the hiring of new manager Erik ten Hag.

A recent attempt to sign Marko Arnautovic was abandoned due to criticism from his disgruntled fans, and former Aston Villa player Gabby Agbonlahor takes issue with that mentality.

The former striker also criticizes star acquisition Sancho, who has three league goals since joining for £67 million last year, and warns United supporters that star signings may soon become extinct.

Agbonlahor told talkSPORT, “I don’t know who Man United fans think they are. Arnautovic makes that squad a better squad.

“They’ve got to stop living in the Fergie years. Man United, now, are a club that can’t attract top players.

“There’s talk about looking to the future with younger players. They’ve done that with Sancho and he can’t take anyone on.

“He gets the ball, he passes it back to Dalot, he hides, he doesn’t get past people.

“Look at the wingers they’ve had in the past. Valencia – he used to go past people and put crosses in. Even Nani was outstanding. Sancho doesn’t do that.
