Former Presidential aspirant on the platform of Youth Progressives Party, YPP, Adamu Garba II, has stated that public universities should be autonomous.

Nigerian universities should hire their lecturers says Adamu Garba

He disclosed this via his Facebook page on Thursday afternoon, August 18th.

According to him, all Nigerian universities should hire their lecturers and pay them directly.

He wrote, “You kept asking me what about ASUU?

“To me, all universities in Nigeria should go autonomous, hire their lecturers and pay them directly.

“They charge admission, faculty, departmental, club, registration, tuition fees etc for thousands of students in billions NGN with no accountability. Now they want N1.1Trillion, for what? How?

This activist driven entitlement mentality is for global consumption.

Yet they kept students at home, denying them opportunities to derive value from their investments in learning and wasting their precious moments in time. Some students gullibly kept supporting ASUU, unknown to them that ASUU hurt their future more than any government.

In case you don’t know, employment age kept reducing, it is now maximum of 22 years, last 3 years, it was maximum of 25. In the next two years, it’ll drop to 20 years, but ASUU is planning to cash out while cashing away your future.

Government should support universities with infrastructure through intervention programs but not hire or pay lecturers. Let the universities take charge for salary payments. Simple!”.
