After missing training on Friday, Arsenal is expected to be without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang against Southampton.
The Gunners captain did not attend the Gunners’ final training session ahead of Saturday’s Premier League match against Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side at London Colney.
The reason for Aubameyang’s absence on Friday is unknown at this time, but there are rumors that the 32-year-old is ill.
Arsenal’s captain was left on the bench against Everton on Monday night, with Mikel Arteta bringing him on for the final minutes of the 2-1 loss.
However, with Alexandre Lacazette unable to make an impact at Goodison Park, he was expected to return for Saturday’s match against Southampton.
At the start of the week, Aubameyang was training as usual and was active until Thursday.
However, the forward, who has four league goals this season, skipped Friday’s final warm-up session and was absent throughout the day at the club’s training facility.
Arsenal declined to comment on the reason for Aubameyang’s absence, but teams are becoming extra cautious now that Covid-19 is regaining prominence in football.
