FG receives stolen Ile-Ife Artifact from Mexico

The Federal government has received stolen Ile- Ife Artifact from Mexico.

This was disclosed by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama on Thursday, April 8th.

Receiving the artifact, he thanked the Embassy’s effort in recovering the stolen artifact.

“Presented with an ancient bronze sculpture by Dr. Yakubu Dadu, ChargĂ© Affaires of The Nigerian Embassy in Mexico. This Ife bronze was stolen from Nigeria and noticed at an airport in Mexico by our Ambassador at the time, Aminu Iyawa,” Geoffrey tweeted.

“He was suspicious and alerted the authorities who played a significant role in ensuring it was recovered and handed back to us.
Many thanks to the Government of Mexico for the significant role relevant agencies played in ensuring the return of this valuable artefact.”
