Governor of Zamfara state, Bello Matawalle has ordered the immediate closure of all boarding schools in the state.

“As we are making efforts to strengthen security around our schools, I have directed the immediate closure of all boarding secondary schools across the State,” Matawalle said in an evening broadcast.

This is coming after armed bandits abducted 317 schoolgirls at the Government Girls Secondary School in Jangebe, today.

The governor who gave the ordered on Friday during a state-wide broadcast at the Government House, Gusau, sympathized with the parents and assured them of their release.

“We shall not compromise insecurity bedeviling our state and we are commending the federal government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari for the unflinching support to my administration in an effort to find a lasting solution of the insecurity bedeviling our state,” he said.
