Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has admitted that his Liverpool counterpart, Jurgen Klopp, is not a friend.
The Spaniard, on the other hand, made it clear that he admires Klopp, whom he claims has helped him become a better manager.
Guardiola was speaking following their 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday.
Both teams will meet again in the FA Cup semi-finals the following weekend.
“I’m not sure if Jurgen respects me, but he should know how much I respect him.” He has helped me become a better manager.
“His team is always present and aggressive.”
“We’re not friends; we never see each other; I have his phone number but never call him.”
“I have respect for him, but he knows next Saturday [in the FA Cup semi-final] I am going to try and beat him,” Guardiola said.
